A large meta-analysis published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology (2023) showed that each additional 1,000 steps per day was linked to approximately 15% lower risk of death from any cause. The effect was seen already at around 4,000 steps per day, far below the often cited "10,000-step threshold".
